In-Studio and Online Friday, April 11 | 5:30-6:45pm
Bring comfort, closure and clarity to the end of your week with this soothing Sankalpa yoga practice.Sankalpa is Sanskrit for "intention" or "resolve," from San, meaning "a connection with the highest truth," and Kalpa, meaning "vow."
This class will begin with Hatha yoga to strengthen and balance the body, and pranayama (breathwork) to bring more awareness to the present moment. A Yin yoga practice will follow, which involves holding passive stretches for 3-5 min to release the deeper connective tissue and fascia of the body to increase flexibility, release tension and cultivate a meditative state. Class will conclude with a long final relaxation that will incorporate iRest yoga nidra, a luxurious sleep-like guided meditation that uses body and breath sensing to foster a state of deep physical rest and high mental receptivity.
It is in this semiconscious state of relaxation, awareness and self-inquiry that the mind has immense power to sow the seeds of change. Join Monya for this practice to break away from old habits and thought patterns and set long-term goals to help manifest transformation and peace for your weekend and your life, aligning your Sankalpa with your true Self and purpose.
Bolsters, blankets and blocks will be used (at-home participants should have these or pillows, couch cushions and large towels available) to enable maximum comfort in yin poses.
